A Legacy of American Valor

The Limited Edition 75th Anniversary Iwo Jima Gascan®

On the 19th of February 1945, the five-week Battle of Iwo Jima began, marking some of the fiercest and bloodiest fighting of the Pacific War during World War II. A strategic island in the American campaign to attack mainland Japan, Iwo Jima was heavily fortified by the Imperial Japanese Army. A conflict with naval gunfire, an amphibious assault, and close quarters combat, the Battle of Iwo Jima revealed the determination of American resolve. A test of brotherhood bound by a common goal: survival. Notably epitomized in the raising of the American Flag on Mount Suribachi, the Battle of Iwo Jima defines the grit of the U.S. Marine. 75 years have passed since this historic battle concluded, but the valor, American spirit, and fortitude has inspired generations to come.
